From those who study such things, we are informed that these ancient isles are criss-crossed with Ley Lines. They are straight lines running across the island upon which are to be found ancient places of mysterious and spiritual significance. Avebury, Stonehenge, Old Sarum and Salisbury Cathedral are claimed to sit on such a line. Is it true? Here Sharon and Bob certainly believe that they have discovered a magical spot.
“..Bob and Sharon show off their dowsing rods..”
“..Considered the finest Cathedral Close in the land, it encompasses centuries of history ..”
“..picturesque and sleepy villages with thatched cottages..”
“..staying in Salisbury lets you shop and relax in it’s medieval streets..”
“..Don’t be surprised to see wild ponies roaming around when you visit the “New Forest” There are 3,000 of them! ..”
“..Salisbury’s magnificent Cathedral boasts England’s highest spire, a copy of the Magna Carta and the world’s oldest working clock ..”
Salisbury is a Medieval City located 90 minutes from Heathrow airport and only 35 minutes from the Southampton Cruise Terminal. It is the perfect place to spend the night before or after a cruise. If you are touring the South of England then Salisbury is an ideal place to make your base.
A comfortable overnight stop allows sufficient time to enjoy a visit to the World Heritage site of Stonehenge which attracts 1,000,000 visitors per year, and Salisbury Cathedral, set in the magnificent Cathedral Close is only a few minutes walk from most city centre hotels.
We were picked up in salisbury and taken on a tour that was truly inspirational. We were told of a mystery that would be revealed to us and it was only possible to see with this company and the amesbury museum heritage trust. What we saw was amazing and confirmed that the spring and findings around it pre date stonehenge, making amesbury the oldest settlement in britain. Andy,Tim & Sebastian made this a day we will remember for the rest of our lives. Incredible- keep up the good work.
I recently had the great pleasure of joining one of these tours. The tour lasted all day and took in Salisbury, Amesbury and Stonehenge. What an incredibly interesting and informative day and great fun too. The guides, Tim and Sebastian, are a wealth of knowledge backed up by a great sense of humour. The visit to Amesbury also includes a visit to Amesbury Abbey which can only be visited on this specific tour due to their direct arrangements with the owner - it is not possible to visit the Abbey in any other way than on this tour - and the Abbey's gardens house the warm springs that pre-date Stonehenge and give suggestion as to why Stonehenge was built and where it was built. Fascinating stuff! I highly recommend this tour. It can also be tailored to to suit a large group. Definitely worth every penny.
This is an excellent tour which goes way beyond the usual. It reveals a multitude of ancient and modern facts and legends. The tour takes in places that are not even open to the general public showing the hidden side of our ancient heritage. I would highly recommend the tour and the friendly and knowledgable guides that are with you every step of the way.
Instead of taking a ships tour while docked in Southampton we joined a small van tour with Salisbury Stonehenge Tours (www.salisburystonehengetours.co.uk). We had the most amazing tour with our guide Sebastian. Sebastian is very knowledgeable about the history of Salisbury, Stonehenge and provides a very informative and enlightening tour. We enjoyed the tour so much that we took a private tour with him the last day of our cruise to learn more about the standing stones and the ancient people who lived in the area. I would highly recommend Salisbury Stonehenge tours and Sebastian! Contact info: Tim Deacon, www.salisburystonehengetours.co.uk
We are Salisbury based and our tours are multilingual in German, French, Italian, Japanese and English

For those visitors to Salisbury either for the day or longer, we offer our “Magical History Tour” to Stonehenge. The Magical History Tour is not just a means of ransporting you to Stonehenge but also a journey to explore the very soul of the people who have left such a mark on the landscape and in the psyche of today’s visitors. Before reaching the World Heritage Site you will be fully acquainted with the magnitude of the tasks these people undertook.
At Old Sarum we stop and admire the fabulous 360 degree views. Originally an Iron-Age Fort, Old Sarum was inhabited by Celts, Romans,Saxons, Vikings and finally Normans. We stop and visit the ruined castle and imagine the chivalrous Knights jousting in the castle grounds, and wenches gossiping by the well….
A short drive takes us to Old Harnham Mill close to the spot chosen by John Constable for his iconic painting of Salisbury Cathedral. Set amongst water meadows and away from the City, this is a view seen by too few visitors, which is a pity, because it is simply stunning.

At Salisbury, Stonehenge & Sarum Tours we are proud of our ancient heritage. This is our home and we delight in showing visiting guests around. Your visit to Stonehenge will be enriched after we have shown you where the people lived and celebrated whilst building Stonehenge.
Stand on the route where the bluestones where offloaded at the end of their tortuous journey from Wales, and see if you can recognise the strange forces of a Ley Line.
Travelling back in time 5000 years we stop at places where recent discoveries have added new theories as to the reason for the mysterious stones.
Set in the most quintessentially English Countryside our route takes in picturesque villages with quaint thatched cottages. There are a couple of “surprises” on the way and many light- hearted moments making your tour a truly “First Class” experience.
